To generate nostalgia and hype around the launch of the SEGA Genesis Mini (or SEGA Mega Drive Mini to us European folks) we came up the idea of creating a fake, 90s feeling gamer magazine and sequentially releasing pages from it. I designed and produced the digital images that started out as retro two-page spread ads until we eventually revealed that the back page of the mag was a heartfelt letter from SEGA to fans of the Genesis and its many classic titles.
To support the magazine campaign, I shot and produced these vintage style magazine ads that we used as paid promotional social content to draw fans into the larger campaign.
In addition to the campaign, I also created a repurposable mograph template for SEGA that we used to create a highlight reel of the best games released by SEGA brands in 2019.
